Radar Detection Installation

Installation manual it says "Some newer cars have a plastic safety coating inside windshield. The windshield brackets may leave permanent marks on this type of surface".

Do I need to worry about this on my 1995 Dodge Ram truck?

you actually read the directions on how to "install" a radar detector??? I just stuck mine to the window and pluged it into the cig outlet.

LOL, yeah I did that on my first one. I just got bored and was reading the instructions and came across that note. I just got a new truck, thats why Im asking, I dont want to damage the windshield. It's a 95, as posted above. I don't know what they consider newer.

My dash is at a slant, I did think about doing it that way. Thats what I did in my car.

thats a bad idea, you want the radar detector as high up as possible...at least thats what valentine one says

yeah that's weird. It makes sense to put it way at the top because it will pick up signals coming through your rear windshield better. I dunno why a lot of manufacturers suggest putting it way at the bottom...

That's not smart.. The higher it is, the better it can 'see' through the front and rear windshields and the better it can detect.

Stupid radar makers like 'Rocky Mountain Radar' will say to put it right on the dash since that is obviously the most convenient and their radar detectors do absolutely nothing that is advertised. There is no such thing as a good radar detector by Rocky Mountain Radar. Trust me on that. There was even an article in Motortrend a few years ago where they took one apart and found a circuit board that only controlled LED lights and nothing else.

It works great for me. Its what the manufacterer (cobra I believe) recommended, so I followed the instructions. It has a clear line of sight to my back windshield, too.

My radar instruction manual said to put it as far "out" as possible, meaning where the windshield meets the dash...as close to that as possible. Since it has 360 degree radar detection. *shrug*
