Rad set up

Im not sure about this so here is my dumb question, How do you set up 2 hard drives to run rad? does it take the info and split it up to the 2 drives? what controlers do you need, and can you use 2 Maxtor 20 gig 7200 drives? thanks............

You mean raid not rad. Yes you can use 2 Maxtors of identical size and speed. You will need a raid contoller, which can be a pci card or come on board some of the newer mobo's. There are a series of raid configurations that you need to do some research on, I believe your will go with either 0 or 1.

Do a search on "raid" in these here forums and you will have more than enough info.

IMO - there isn't much need for raid in normal computing and a lot of it seems to be hype

Thanks, i just picked up another Maxtor and was wondering, buy the way does it act like one 20 gig or like 2 seprate HD's?

If you have 2 20 gig hd's it will act like a big 40 gig hd.
