Rad 8500 refresh setting help needed

I'm sure it was brought up before but I can't browse on this modem through thousands of links.

My Radeon 8500 has problem adressing frequency of the screen. I set it up at 75Hz (1024x768x32 on Dell D825HR 15'') which is its normal setting, but it only runs at 60Hz. I chandged it at optimum, it acknowledged and is still at 60Hz. My previos driver (one I got with the card) adressed this properly, but had D3D isues with textures (in Morrowind, mainly, and IGI2). So I replaced it with the driver I found at http://mirror.ati.com/support/driver.html. It's Catalyst 3.2 Driver Suite for my Win98. So previous driver had no refresh rate problems but was confused in D3D environment. This new one works without a glitch, but I can't figure out these refresh settings (why won't they respond). Any ideas, how to make this new driver work, or what revision of catalyst to use and where to get it.

Thanks, for your time and effort 🙂

display properties - settings - advanced - displays - monitor - set your maximum refresh higher (probably around 160hz)

restart, then try adjusting your refresh.

also, you should install your monitor's drivers and colour profile.

It sounds like your card is not recognizing your monitor correctly. Try re-installing your monitor INF under advanced display properties. This is a common problem with non-DDC monitors. Unfortunately, older OSes don't let you disable the DDC feature, so you may need to do some tweaking with the newer drivers.
