Racquetball wrist safety cord broken

I e-mailed Wilson (who I bought my new racket from directly through my team) about this but it looks like they're ignoring me.

At my last practice the wrist saftey cord on my month-old new racket snapped off from the handle. The string itself itself is intact and I still have it, so I think the connection inside the handle either broke or came untied (I don't know if it was just knotted or connected in another way).

I know this is a shot in the dark, but does anyone know how to fix these? Is there a tool for threading the string back through? Is there a trick you know of? (Google turned up dry.)

I'm assuming I won't be allowed to play in tournaments without it fixed, and there's a big required tournament next week. I don't have a backup racket...

Thanks for the help.

If the stalk inside the handle itself is broken, imagine the only way to fix it would be at a pro shop (they may be able to reattach another), or a complete handle and/or racquet replacement (costly).

If the cord has simply become untied and detached, it is not all that difficult to rethread. Tie one end to a paperclip or length of wire bent in the shape of a U. Thread down past the stalk, turn, and pull the corresponding end up through . Needlenose pliers work well for controlling the hook.

If the first case is true, would contact Wilson Customer Service by phone. Any quality racquet (> $70 to $100+) should carry a warranty, and Wilson should have no problem repairing or replacing.

You should have warranty on the raquet. (I think in tournaments you can not play without the cord). good luck.

Thanks. I'll try rethreading (and let our captain try). I think the stalk is still OK (it wasn't during play, during a fierce pull or anything that it ripped out). It's just tough to have to send it back, since this is the prime part of our season and Wilson is not exactly swift in shipping things out.
