Rackmount Server

Hey Guys

I need a server case that has room for up to 5 computers (Only the basics mobo hdd grphx). I want them to be close together and stackable hence the rackmount idea as they will be running seti only and am limited for space. It also needs to be available in the UK thanks everyone 😀

There is no single case that I know of that will hold five standard ATX or mATX mobos, etc.
. But you can get a backplane case and full size computer-on-a-PCI cards. You could then have as many as you want in the backplane case up to the 10 or 12 slots in the backplane.
. This style is available at any network/server specialty supplier, but they won't be cheap as they aren't pumped out like pretzels - like the standard ATX mobos. They would probably also suck a lot of power depending on the CPU you chose.
. Another option is to use five of those new mini-ITX mobos and mount them in any box that will hold them.
. Run them off a five (or more) way KVM switch so you would only need to use one monitor, kbd, and mouse to run the whole mess.
. While I was typing my reply here, my mind just cooked up a simple way to rack up 5 or so of those mini-ITX mobos and mount 'em in a standard mid-tower case. Think threaded rod and tubular spacers... 😉
. You should be able to power five m-ITXen off a good 450-500W PSU. Rigging the power splitter would be the only interesting task.
