Rack Server RAM

I've been asked to find an approximate price for a stick of 256MB of for our P3 rack web server. I don't know what model the rack is, make or anything yet. I just want to find an approximate price. I'm guessing it's SDRAM, not DDR or Rambus. I am Canadian so your NewEgg prices won't apply to me 😛

My main question is, asides from being ECC and maybe registered (I need to check), do server racks need low profile RAM or anything like that?

Mostly you just look at them physically. (That's the way I figure it)

Some ram is realy tall, some is normal, some is short. I guess it all depends on what sort of chips they decide to use.

Also not all racks are 1u, and if they are some motherboards designed for those cases have the ram mounting at a angle so as to allow taller RAM sticks.

I'd just e-mail crucial or a distributer and ask if they got any sticks that are shorter or what do they normally/recommend use in situations like that.

Yes, Crucial does ship to Canada.

I don't see any low profile RAM just browsing through the RAM though...
Is your servrer custom-built or a major manufacturer? If something like Dell, use their (Crucial's) memory selector.

The thing is I'm not really sure. I'm still waiting for a reply from our rack hoster but I would have liked to have approximate price.
