Just gave this a shot. No perservatives, and delicious. Much better than some of the competing brands I've tried and cheaper. No nitrites, MSG, etc.

How many pounds of ribs was that? Also, is it pre-cooked or is it raw? Sounds cheaper than costco.

Yup I grill them every weekend during the summer. They are precooked.

Taste great, much better than the llyods stuff.

Anyway, if you search the Trader Joe's thread I made you will find even more great stuff.

For that kind of money it's pork, it's a whole slab. I already wrapped up the unused portion so I can't tell you the weight, but they only sell it in that one particular size. It's really good. Next time I open up the package if the label is still there I'll post the weight. I just know for $10 you get more than competing brands, they were selling other brands on the same shelf by weight.

The Lloyd's stuff taste artificial because they use nitrites and perservatives. I try to stay away from that stuff as much as possible.

I don't know but they defnititely effect the overall taste of the food. Nitrates are a kind of salt...perservatives, well, it all depends what and how much.

Because the TJ's brand use no nitrates or perservatives they have a much shorter shelf life than the competing brands.

TJ's never has any specials. Their prices are pretty much constant on their products until an increase. The TJ prices will be the same from store to store.

The only prices that might vary will be the price of local produce, and even then they can be dirt cheap, ie: at my TJ's they sell bananas for $.019/ea which is approx $.039/lb. Etc.

I hate Trader Joes.

I always go in there with the intention of buying a couple of items, and I walk out with a couple bags full of stuff :( :p

i like trader joes, but my friend bought their ribs and some other brand of ribs from another store on superbowl sunday - and the trader joe's ribs were definitely second best.

unfortunately they were also probably healthier.

Is it really that cheap? I've seen it, along with tri-tip but was afraid to try it. It's pre-marinated and everything, right?

Cheap as in inexpensive yes, but it's still high quality stuff. Yes, it's pre-cooked with sauce on it and everything so all you need do is nuke it for a few minutes and you're good to go.

For $10 it's hard to complain.

When you say nuke, you aren't suggesting microwaving it right? You would still grill it, right?

usually if it's precooked ill just wrap it in foil and put it in the oven for half an hour or so... really good.. i wouldnt recommend grilling though

I wouldn't if it already has sauce on it......you're going to burn the sugar in the sauce and get bitter tasting ribs. Personally, I'd warm it in the oven but the microwave sounds like the next best option.
