Title says it all. I'm looking for a nice, inexpensive preferrably, case that will hold 17 hard drives inside. The only things I have seen so far from servercase.com and such are ones with 24 or so hot swappable drive bays but they are $2k + ... Way too expensive..

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Josh

Why not walk over to a company like Sun Micro and ask for server boxes that have been tossed away. My father works there and he says there are up to 10 servers being thrown away every month, server cases that is..

In theory that sounds good. Unfortunately I live in Georgia and I believe Sun is in Cali.. :D

You didn't mention your budget. It may or may not be possible in a new unit depending on the figure.

See if you couldn't do something with one or more of the Codegen server boxes on Dealsonic.com.
. If you are using SCSI drives, you could easily daisy chain one or more cases. Or you could do the same with a couple of the Prism cases from directron.com.
. Hypermicro.com has the connectors and cables to make a neat job of it.

Zepper, thanks for the info.. I'll look into that.

The drives are 16 Serial ATA Drives. 2 sets of 8 in Raid 5 and 1 boot drive.

Thanks

Josh
