Racist = Heritic?

OutHouse

Lifer
while listening to talk radio about the illegal immigrant problem, the host has brought up some very good points on how our governement bend over backwards to accomidate illegals.

There were many supportive calls and of course you have the angry callers who called the talk show host a racist. The angry callers didnt even want to talk about the topics he brought up, they were by the sound of their voice frothing at the mouth angry and just kept calling him a racist.

my question is this. in todays world does being called a racist which pretty much stops the conversation equal being called a heritic way back in the 13 centrury?

back then if the people didnt like what you were saying and didnt want to look at the facts and reason you were labeled a heritic and you were branded as one.

It just seems to me that when hard issues are brought up the person who brings up very valid and interesting points on certain subjects are labeled a racist when in reality they are far from it.

I also think that the over use of the word really waters down its actuall meaning, in todays world you call somebody a heritic people think you are a nut, i truly belive that the racist label is being so over used that pretty soon it will have as much weight at being called a heritic.

your thoughts?

You have a point, somewhat, but our society is generally more educated and reasoned than 13th cent. europe.

If you don't agree with me....I'll bring out....THE FUZZY CHAIR!

Pretty much. It is how we are bullied into not discussing a whole range of issues.

neener neener!

Seriously, though, I feel that the benefits of immigration outweighs the costs.

The gem you saved slightly outweighed the cost of the damage to the museum. A net win for the city!
