Racism is spread more easily ever since the invention of the internet

I have to admit, I never seen so much racism until i discovered the internet. Before, racism was unacceptable to talk about within your group of peers but on the internet, you are able to make forums, websites, anything to be as racist as you want. This, I beleive, brings racist people together to voice their opinions and grow stronger spreading hate. Do you guys believe in the future the internet will be somehow policed just like how our radio and TV became to be?

The internet has done or changed nothing....it has merely exposed what has and will more than likely always be there. BTW, the term racism should really be changed to culturism because that is the root of the issue in most cases, not the color of one's skin.

Let's hope not. Censorship sucks. Don't like it? Don't click on it.

I think the Internet brings together people of all stripes, be they racists, computer nerds, or little old ladies and, overall, that's a good thing. Nothing's perfect and you won't change anyone's views by censoring them.

More than likely culturist, but not racist for the most part in my opinion.

Ok, culturist and predjudice, not racist.

disagree.

the internet also brings together people of different races through such mediums as this forum. While those who are more racially insensitive than most will arguably be able to have an easier time finding like minded people, I refuse to believe that an invention which improves communication increases racism.

I also never saw as much racism in life as I have on the internet. I don't think it's the medium though; I think it's the fact I live in the northeast near a large city - along with parts of the west coast, it doesn't get much more diverse than here. On the internet though you come across people from all over. If I lived in some backwater town in the middle of nowhere, I'd probably remark on having never seen so many liberals as I had on the internet.

Any communication Medium is going to have Racism or other nefarious worldview. The Internet certainly makes exposure to it far easier than ever before which gives any information greater exposure, but I wouldn't say that that means there is more Racism on the Internet. It is just more accessible.

The internet exposes you to more people and their view points, hence more racism. I don't think the internet breeds racism, but rather it exposes you to the racists that have always been there, just out of sight.

It's my view that if nothing else, the internet reduces racism as it's a medium of communication in which the race of the cummunicators does not come in to play. There may be more perceived racism because of the anonymity factor, but by and large most of it seems in good humor to me, not bred of hatred.

Why whites take the brunt of the blame for racism irks me though. It's not like any of us had absolutely any control over past events. It's not like any of us support such events. So, stop blaming me. Any given day I can overhear three of four coloured peoples conversation about their present day oppression because of this or that. C'mon.

EDIT: To OP's original question, no I don't think the intarweb has spread racism anymoreso than would have been.

That's a bunch of BS. Even if you don't think it is, it is.

I don't think the internet has spread racism. I do think it's given people another way to promote whatever it is they want to promote, but that works both ways, so it's a wash just like it was before.

take this forum for example, since we can't really see what each other REALLY looks like

we are geared more to hate some one because they are a bastard person not by their race :D

Part history, partly because Whites have little to complain about, and partly that Whites conceived(at least in Modern times) of the idea that Racism was wrong.

Its not only that, but other races are often just as guilty of racism.
