There could be an element of irony which is not obvious to outside observers but is nevertheless common in fashion, particularly that of subcultures but not limited to. It often begins with trend setters specifically adopting fashion contrary not just to the mainstream but really their own taste; the "so lame it's cool" schtick. For other examples from the recent past consider: trucker hats, ill-fitting pants, bowling shirts, &c.
These jackets are merely taking the acceptance of any logo to its natural (extreme) conclusion. Although I suppose there's still room left for coveralls (dope!).
It's a good example of why to be careful adopting fashion or mannerisms with the intent of irony because it indubitably becomes indistinguishable from the original -ergo, youngsters acting as stoopid as geezers. Rinse and repeat. Plus, the corporations don't care why you buy their crap as long as you do. At least true thrift-store fashion circumvents that (until that style is co-opted by the mainstream and thus abandoned by trend setters for at least a generation).
