Good race too...too bad it had to end under caution.
BTW, why did Dan Wheldon have to get pushed into the winners' circle? Did he run out of gas after he finished?
Oh, maybe second place or third place. Or perhaps show some biographical information on Wheldon. That's just my personal opinion of course. It's not like they spent the whole race extolling her virtues. :roll:Originally posted by: Amol

yep, he was outta gas
which is why they interviewed Danica instead of him ... he still had to get to victory lane
I don't know why people complained that they gave attention to Danica instead of him after the race ... would they rather have Danica, or commercials until Wheldon got to victory lane?

Can you honestly tell me that you wouldn't care if you were Wheldon? Every other Indianapolis 500 immediately starts talking about the winning driver when the race is over. Including when they do their victory lap and anything else. I never saw a victory lap. As soon as the race was over they went to Patrick and didn't look back until Wheldon was in the winners circle.Originally posted by: Amol

They were serving the new viewers. You gotta admit, when the Nielsen numbers come out, there's going to be a big boost over previous IRL and/or Indy 500 broadcasts, and it's because of Danica Patrick

Not before doing other stuff. They eventually showed a replay of him doing donuts. I understand that he ran out of gas but there were about 100 things they could have done rather than interview Patrick.Originally posted by: Amol

Wheldon ran out of gas ... he had to be manually pushed to the winners circle!

edit: I guess my point on this is they should have just renamed it the Danica Patrick 500. The race obviously wasn't about Indianapolis, it wasn't about the other drivers, it wasn't about the cars and it certainly wasn't about the winner. The whole point of this race was to show off the cute little driver they gained and look how close to the big boys she can run.
NOOOOOO. That race is sitting on my TiVo. I haven't gotten to watching it yet.Originally posted by: JulesMaximus
I was very impressed with Danica Patrick today. She made a few mistakes but she proved that she is every bit as qualified to run in that race and be given a competitive car. I really hoped she would win today quite honestly and I was supremely disappointed that she didn't. I guess considering the race she drove she was really fortunate to finish 4th though.
BTW-I thought it was even more disappointing that Kimi Raikkonen lost his race on the last lap due to a suspension failure/tire (switched to F1 now).

Why am I a moron? Granted, I saw much more of her driving than any other rookie on the track but what I saw I didn't like. She had trouble keeping the car heading in a straight line and caused a pretty nasty crash by not paying enough attention. Very little time was spent concentrating on any aspect of the race other than how she was running. I fail to see how was I said was incorrect. The whole race was about her.Originally posted by: JulesMaximus

Sure she made a few "rookie" moves but it made the race interesting. Her stalling, her bumping matsura, her causing a wreck and tearing off her wing, and then surviving ALL that to make it back up to first. There wasn't any other driver in that race that i saw that was fighting for the victory as much as she was. Although they did focus primarily on her, it was clear it was for good reason, she made the race this year worth watching, even though we never got to see any boobage like we all hoped![]()
and how cool would that have been...danica wins the race...strips down to a bikini...and starts posing a-la Paris Hilton on her racecar drenching herself in milk....oooooooo....yyyyeaaaaaahhhhh
