Have you raced at a race track?

Just wondering as was reading NFS thread about the new Porsche and they were testing it at the Nurburg Ring.

If so which one was it, how much was it and what car were you in :D?

I didn't exactly "race", but I did get to drive a Winston Cup car at the track in Nazareth, PA. It was me, an instructor and one other person on the track. 8 laps, and each one was faster than the last. Got up to like 121mph, which on that track is pretty fast as it's only a half mile track, and the cars weigh 3500 pounds. Loud, fast, and so much vibration. But it was the coolest thing I ever did, until I got my motorcycle. I would love to do it again, but this time in Daytona or Talladega.

Oh, cost was about $350, but to me it was well worth it.

What car and setup did you have? And how much was it to drag and how many runs did you get?

Thats about it... I am hoping that the RM1 will become more popular in the U.S. so I can buy one of those... Kart racing is 10X more fun then racing full size cars.

I've dragged at a couple of 1/4 mile tracks, and a couple of 1/8 mile tracks here on Long Island.
This was a very long time ago.

I have an '84 Camaro. I'll see if I can find a pic. It's a track only car, pretty standard setup, runs about 11.8 average in the 1/4 mile.

I did the Petty Experience @ Kansas Speedway a month ago. Did the rookie experience. 8 laps following an instructor. hit 160mph.

Needed more laps because it is one heck of unnatural feeling diving into a corner. Will never forget it though.

Yah they are great :D ... I don't think I would want to own my own due to cost though... but I would love to own a Rotax (more Hobby level sport.. shifters get abit too serious on the pocketbook ;) )

Forgot to say it was $100-120 to race for the weekend. You basicly get as many runs as time allows (depends on how many other cars show up). Usually around 3 on Saturday, plus up to another 7 if you go in the optional Gamblers race if you make it through all the rounds. Then another 2-3 timetrials on Sunday, and then again up to another 7 depending on the amount of cars/how your doing.

Speaking of race track, does anyone how much it costs to run on a plain track?

I'd kill to take my car out for a romp on a track once I get my Koni's and Eibachs.
