Greetings to all from all of us over in the Distributed Computing forum!
I'd like to take a quick moment to deliver a message on behalf the TeAm AnandTech crunchers.
A new distributed computing project has recently gotten under way, and that project is called Correlizer. It uses the computing power of PCs around the world to research genome organization.
TeAm AnandTech (TA) has recently engaged SETI.Germany (SG) in a friendly "race" to see who will end up in the #1 spot by Nov 16th. SG has been #1 for a while now, and while TA was in 5th place not too long ago, we have since leap-frogged over 4th and 3rd places to take over the #2 spot. Unfortunately, SG has taken notice and stepped up production accordingly. The last time i checked the stats, our average production was higher than theirs, however the difference in output is not enough to eclipse them by the race deadline.
I don't know exactly how long its been since TA has held the #1 spot in project production, but suffice it to say its been a long time. At long last we have the chance to hold the title once again. But we need all the help we can get from AnandTech forum members and enthusiasts alike. You may be wondering why we're asking for help in the VC&G forum when this project only uses CPU's, not GPU's...well, we know that there's a good chance that those of you who are gaming and general video/graphics enthusiasts probably have equally powerful CPUs to back up your GPUs.
And so we cordially invite you to join TeAm AnandTech in our effort to beat SETI.Germany to the #1 spot for Correlizer production by Nov 16th. When prompted which project to join please enter this URL - http://svahesrv2.bioquant.uni-heidelberg.de/correlizer/
While i'm sure many of you are quite busy putting those GPUs to work (and consequently using a good deal of CPU power in the process), we'd like you to consider using your spare CPU cycles for a short period of time to help TA reach the #1 spot before the race deadline, and more importantly, donate CPU time to the advancement of biology, genetics, and science in general.
If you have any questions or concerns about either the race or the Correlizer project in general, please see The SETI.Germany vs. TeAm AnandTech race in Correlizer. Please help us! thread in the Distributed Computing Forum. Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this, and for donating your CPUs to science!
