Race to 1000 wu's! (updated 10/12) 1 wu to go for me

Gentlemen, start your engines!

Tetsuo316 (Jeff) here, announcing a new race to 1000 wu's between myself and Mucman (Scott). I'm at 755 wu's right now and he is at 861. Not only are we going to be racing, but we're issuing a call to anyone else who is interested and thinks it might be a close race. So, let us know who you are and where you are in the standings/what your average wu/day is and lets have some fun.

Tetsuo316: 5 wu/day
Mucman: 3-4 wu/day

Sorry mucman ,that wasn't my plan ,it just happened that my output lept up in the middle of that race!

not if your output is something like 12 wu's per day... don't count yourself out, just think, "hey, maybe i can scrape together some more machines or asslaminate a friend's computer." don't give up!

I'm only doing around 9-10 a day. I don't know anyone that'll let me run it on their systems. Well the main problem is everyone I know turns there computers off when there not using them so I wouldn't get many wu's at all. I'm still trying though.

My problem is that everyone doesn't want their screen-saver set to blank screen! I don't understand why people go giddy over a screen-saver they never look at! Oh well... I just shrug my shoulders and try to assimilate someone else.

Is that the one that looks like a real fishtank? ,I thought it looked quite good ,I don't like the fact that people would rather have that than SETI though :|

Assimilator1, I am really you would say that about a non-SETI screensaver . For this race I tried to convince my mom AGAIN to try SETI, but she still says she likes her fish. $#%$#%

Ask her to actually pay attention to how much time she actually spends watching the fish. If it's more than 5 mins a day, tell her she's wasting time, and if it's under 5 mins, tell her she doesn't need to see them. And if she won't change, then just run the CLI hidden. Though if you want to be mean to your mom you could bump the CLI priority up to the top, and then her computer would be really slow.

Wow, checked my WU's an hour ago and it was at 369. Just checked now and it was at 374! I know this computer didn't finish a work unit and I only have 4 other systems processing SETI, so apparently I have a fan out there somewhere

Time to assimilate that iMac in the office no one uses...

I have NO CLUE about processors and caches and stuff in Macs, but when I installed the GUI interface on it and watched it, that thing went AT LEAST as fast as the PIII-450s there at work, maybe a tinch faster. That's like another 3 WU's a day! Don't care what it is- as long as it's free, I'll take it!!!

Oh boy, is it getting close. Mucman has gained a little momentum in the last couple of days, and I slipped a little. The latest breakdown is like this:

Mucman - 17 wu's to go
ElFenix - 33 wu's to go
Tetsuo316 - 22 wu's to go

Please, I've never asked for much in life...

Once this is over, I'm donating my pc to the rc5 project! In the long run, it'll be a great boost to the team, and in the meantime, what better way to bring all of TeAm Anandtech together?
