Well looks like a good testing ground to see if you can get away from the fuzz if you do partake in an illegal street race. :D

I'm moving to South Florida the weekend before this happens. I might go check it out. Not sure I want to race my Subbie, I'm already nervous about the clutch.

It sucks cus in Los Angeles Area, the place with the most cars, practically all the places to race got shutdown.

You dont have to launch it from redline. With your clutch, 5spd and axles I wouldnt want to give it a full willy launch on a prepped drag strip.

It would be cooler if the cop cars were actually faster than the 16-18s they run.

It's not the car behind you to be worried about- it's the Motorola and the sixteen cars ahead of you. ;)

QFT. Anyone dumb enough to run from the cop is too dumb to realize they're trying to run from the radio, not the cop.

Unless you have a trunk full of coke, dead, and live hookers, the slim odds you have of actually getting away aren't worth it versus just taking the ticket for whatever minor infraction you committed.

Quite true. Hard to outrun a radio, roadblocks and a helicopter.

Even harder to outrun spike strips! ;)

Always wondered, though........bad guys, let's say, drug dealers......got all the money in the world, yet won't spend a little bit of it to get run flat tires that should beat the spike strips, at least for a while!

Sorry, I wasn't specific enough for you.......I meant race tracks for legal races.

You assume they use stock Crownvics??? I would extremely doubt they would.

I know the interceptor package gives them better suspension and some sort of performance boost but I'm not sure exactly by how much.

235 HP, 275 lb-ft.
curb weight: 4020 pounds

0-60: 8.7 seconds

22 MPG highway.

What a fucking turd. Cops would be faster, use less gas, and be more comfortable in just about any modern unibody V6 sedan from any manufacturer. There is the question of "heavy-duty," but I see plenty of cab drivers in fucking Windstars, and those are about as heavy-duty as Clay Aiken. For that matter, Silicon Valley has lots of cabbies in Honda Accord Hybrids. Anyway, I'd say if you gave any modern sedan the same mods as the Interceptor gets, it would vastly outperform it in every single category with the possible exception of price.

I think it's minimal. The myths I heard as a kid that cop cars were faster than a jet were just that. Cops don't really need fast cars most of the time, as they typically win police chases with numbers and communication.

No wonder someone outran an ex cop car in a drag race in only a bone stock v6 camaro

Cops should drive a G8 sedan, the interior size needed but can run down stuff much easier and get better mpg on the highway :p

Umm I was saying that they modified them. Not use some interceptor package. I've seen modified cop cars at races before that ran much faster than what you guys would ever think and I would think this would be the case as well. If they were that slow you think anyone would go more than once to race them?
