I get a hearty laugh at those who purchased the 9800XT.
really, why?
i have one running strong for well over a year now and it suits my needs perfectly . . . IF i had the regular 9800p, i'd be thinking of UPgrading NOW. . .
. . . with the 9800xt being more-or-less-equal in performance to the 6600GT - i still can play ANY fps at "my" resolutions of 10x7 or 11x8 [my 19" CRT's max refresh @85hz] at 'hi' with everything 'on' and 'max'
oh, yeah, i got it new fron NewEgg shipped LAST Spring for $223 . . .
so, where did i go wrong?
i get just shy of 3,000 points in 3DMark05 with the old Cats . . . an doing a Win O/S Reinstall this weekend before i try 5.6.

yeah but wheres the benfit of 256 for a 9800pro? not worth it.
You guys are so clueless when it comes to the 256MB 9800p . . .
:disgust:
ONE example . . . you canNOT turn on all details in Painkiller/BOoH with a 128MB 9800p - you CAN with the 256MB 9800p [which IS a ''true' 9800xt with a BIOS flash (and better cooling)]
i'd say +10% performance over the 128MB version is "worth it" . . . but it's just my opinion
edit: well, i've d/led all the latest drivers and am logging out to reinsatall Win . . . i'll update [dug777] my 3DM'05 score with the latest cats then.
Aloha
