R9100 IGP + Celeron = ?

With the structure of the 9100IGP and it offloading the vertex shaders onto the CPU, would this mean performance would be "utter ass"* if running a Celeron?

(even more utter ass than a Celeron normally provides)

Trying to build out a Bargain Basement LAN Box for an Intel fanboy. Specifically, a Shuttle ST62K Zen. He wants quiet, Intel, and capable of a little light gaming (800x600 res likely)

I'd talk him into the retail 2.4ghz Prescott for $120@newegg if he insists on Intel, Celeron is just too slow period, and the 2.6ghz celery retail is only $28 less and you know the Prescott will destroy it.

Word. I've tried to beat him over the head with benchmarks, real-life demonstration of my OCed XP @ 2.0GHz utterly smashing his pal's "OMGAWESOMEDELLP4" into dust ... but still no luck. "AMDs overheat in a month and break, that's why you need the big coolers." "If they're so good why doesn't Dell use them?" "P4s use an 800MHz bus so they're twice as fast as an AMD."

Tell him Dell have started to use AMD in their workstation systems (IIRC), and that those need more reliability than desktop PC's, so AMD have got good chips, and Dell do use them.
Also point out that Dell isn't the only PC mfr, and most other people use AMD, and that Dell gets it up the a$$ from Intel to use their chips.

Ad with the money you save you can buy a cheap graphics card (if you get a moble Barton and cheap NForce 2 mobo)

yeah i sure would feel cheated if i was sold a celeron.....certainly ive steered ppl away from them, im gettin a laptop soon for uni..........hopefully not a celeron.....id have a mobile athlon instead!!!
