R9 390 as an upgrade from my 7770?

I play at 1080p, i am wanting to play games like dishonored 2 and Fallout 4, i run a dual core Phenom II 555 BE, but unlocked into quad at 4.3ghz.

Hm, neither game is coming out for at least three months. I'd wait and see what your budget looks like at that point, as well as how Fury Nano looks by then.

1. Used R9 290/290X is a way better value vs. 390.

2. It's better to pair a lower end CPU with an Nvidia graphics card due to AMD's DX11 driver overhead. That means GTX970 > R9 290/290X/390 in your case.

3. Always wait until the game you want that's not out for months is released before you buy because there could be deals along the way (i.e., $240-250 GTX970 with a game?)

Fallout 4 isn't out until November 10th. There is a high chance 390/970 and maybe even 980 will all drop in price.

Considering you can already buy a B-stock eVGA GTX 970 SC+ 2.0 for $250 right now, I bet by November 10th, it's not going to be hard to find a new GTX970 for $250.
