But a R9 390 8GB for 320€ (100€ less) should hold even finer, I think.

What CPU though?

Ok got it O:)

Now I'll be impatient to get it...

Does it decode h.265 via hw? My camera records in h.265 and the haswell-e at 4.4ghz goes up to 33% usage to decode it!

Oh, if you have a Haswell E then do not worry about a CPU bottleneck :D

Thx! This is nice! But I guess it won't re-encode in h.265 after editing, when premiere finally supports direct h.265 editing.

Correct, I believe the GTX 960 (and maybe 950) are the only cards to have hardware H.265 encoding. But they are much slower than your Fury.

Yes, of course. That's a pity, though. With such a powerhouse encoding in h.265 would be a breeze. Who knows, perhaps they'll use opencl for the task...but I'm doubtful!

If you've got Haswell E you've got more than enough CPU grunt to do it in software, it's really a non issue. Having hardware encode/decode is more relevant for NAS-to-HTPC local streaming set ups.

Crisium, we have very similar machines. I have a 5820k running at 4.4ghz (1.26v), noctua d-15, 16gb@2666 (13-13-13-29-2) and the 850 1tb as well! So the fury will be fit in these specs! Cool!

Nice rig. Wow, those are very tight timings for 2666 DDR4. What kit do you have?

I reread your response twice and I do not see how it has anything to do with my post about available of existing 290/290X inventory in the used market / on last minute sales. Whatever the case was in 2013 only supports my point earlier about the overall tarnished reputation of 290/290X cards which only strengthens the idea that many of those cards are being dumped on the used market / have very poor resale value for many factors already covered.
SNIP.
Just saying that I was open to a 290X, but could not find anything in a brand & model I consider acceptable at an acceptable price. Personally I'm not buying used unless I can buy for around half of new cost, and to buy a new 4GB 290X I would want at least 25% under an equivalent 8GB 390. Instead, what I saw was mainly around the same price as the 390 for a 4GB 290X and considerably higher for an 8GB model. At those prices I don't think the 290X is any bargain considering that the 390's memory is 25% faster.

Yes, I'm happier and happier that I didn't buy the 290x, at the end. Ok, I would have stayed within the 330€, but also I would have had a two years old card. Fiji looks like an exciting technology to me. Pity it's still on the aging 28nm process.

Just got the fury! Nice card. But my sample is unlockable: all the disabled units are by hw r/o). Oh well!
