yes, I think this thread is relevant for the video cards and graphics sub forum, not just the AMD one,

as for HDMI 2.0 you are right, it's rare right now, but the people who are already using it will have these cards as a choice and not the AMD ones, and it's good for future proofing

60Hz is a big thing also for basic desktop usage, using windows at 30Hz is pretty bad, and I think 4K HDMI 2.0 TVs will be more popular than DisplayPort TVs?!

A lot of TVs claim "PC inputs" of some sort. With newer TVs that might be in the form of DP. Consumers can hope anyway.

Wasabi mango has monitors up to 55 inches with dp, with freesync. Crossover and other companies are in the 40 inch range.

Sucks if you already have a display. If you don't.... Freesync + 4k + display port+big screen?

It may have been a wait but amd has exclusivity in that regard to the best big screen gaming setup humanly possible currently in my person opinion.

Which again is the type of thing amd needs to push.

I think its fairly obvious that the entire 300 series is a simple refresh stop gap. Enough to satisfy OEMs need for new numbers, and not much more.

I suspect this points to AMD thinking they will release the true next generation sooner rather than later so they dont want to invest in new 28nm architecture(s)/layouts with a short life span.

IMO Fiji is this gen's 4770. Pipe cleaner product to build experience on new tech before a real mass market release. Making enough margins to pay back some of its expenses

Yep...we don't even get it. But at $199.00, would we even want it?

PCWorld was told by AMD that the launch was rather low key as the 370X is a "regionalized product which is today limited to the China market". However it would be surprising if we didn't see it released in the west in the not-too-distant future. As alluded to above, as the entry level R9 card this 370X has a recommended price of $199.

does anyone have a review of the R9 290 with a power limit on it? I want to see how power consumption, noise, heat, gaming performance with powerlimits. Just curious to see what the card is capable of.

I am currently running a R9 290 Powercolor PCS+ with NZXT AIO CLC mod @ -70mV core voltage, -20% power limit, and 900/1250 clocks in one rig. I don't need any more power than that for any game I play currently, so it works out nicely averaging 110W-130W VDDC Power In in GPU-Z while gaming.

Only, you should probably be comparing the 380 to the 960, which it still beats...

Nvidia is suffering the midrange in my opinion because of their prices and because of the memory bus sandbagging. The 960 can't match the 380 because it's only 128bit. For a card >$200, that's BS. The 4GB versions are a waste because of this, and yet Nvidia has yet to lower prices because idiots keep buying em up anyway.
