Strange comparison because 270X drops to $140-160, while R9 280 goes for $190-220 and 280X goes for $240-260. You should really be comparing R9 280 vs. 280X or wait 2 more days for 285 and see if this forces price drops on 280/280X. A stock 280 is as fast as an overclocked 760, while costing less. That basically rules out the 760.

Hard OCP has a recent review:
http://hardocp.com/article/2014/08/25/pny_geforce_gtx_760_xlr8_oc_video_card_review/11#.VANiDokazCQ

Newegg also has Diamond 280X which is just a rebadged His IceQ for $240. That automatically rules out all 760s.

Neither. Used Radeon 7950 3gb Boost on amazon/eBay runs for $140-150. A slight OC to 1ghz core and you have one killer GPU.

This will be faster than even a R 285. So save your $$$$.

As others have said 7950/280 is the actual comparable GPU to the 760. For some reason AMD has decided to align it with the 270X in the market. I think it's to buoy up the price of the 270X.

I questioned as to why [H] compared the 760 to the 270X in their review and they said it was the preferred comparison from AMD when they asked them for a card to review against the 760. Go figure.

I guess it was to follow on nVidia's lead.
When the GTX 660ti launched, nvidia insisted the rival of the 660ti was the hd7950, and most reviewers pitted against it. We know that the natural rival of the 660ti was the hd7870.

So now AMD is asking to compare a hot clocked hd7870 to a gtx670... sounds like something they borrowed from the other team 😉

ps Yes, gtx670/760 vs hd7950/r9 280 is the natural matchup.
R9 270X should go against any remaining gtx 660ti stock.

Wanna take a chance on one of those abused retired miners with fans already failing?

You didn't think the boat load of used hd7950s available at those prices are because the owners "upgraded so the old one has to go..."

If I were going used I would stick with the R9 models. The 7950's could be 2+ years old. I don't think mining is automatically equal to abuse, but cards over 2 years old can have fan issues regardless.

Funny that, I've seen AMD proud of reviews that they link to on facebook that pit the 280X against the 760 because they are similarly priced.

Have 760's gone down in price recently like the 780's and 780TI's?

760 has barely dropped in price. It currently sits in no man's land. A stock R9 280 is as fast as factory overclocked 760s for $200, R9 280X for $260 destroys a 760 and with overclocking, 760 only gets more behind. With AMD you also currently get free games and more VRAM too. 760 should be below $200 until 280 is discontinued at least.

I voted gtx760 cause it is a much better card than the 270x ( Not sure how there are so many votes for the 270x)

Now a days the gtx760 starts at $219.99 (newegg)
But I would like to add that my vote is get one of the awesome aftermarket options as there are many overclocked models ~$220 after mail in rebate

But then there is another option not specifically listed in the poll,
It is the R9 280. There are now plenty of nice aftermarket versions for around $200 after mail in rebate. Again, i would suggest an overclocked model. This option is really a great buy in every way.

I just do not think the 270x should get so many votes. There are much better cards out there and some great deals. I think with a new generation around the corner, i would want to get something more powerful.

Hmmm... not sure about that.

Best for the money is definitely the R9 280, though.
