R7-260X or Equivalent Nvidia?

Hello all,

I'm a gamer but I profess to being a bit on the thrifty side and also prefer to use GPUs that don't make up half my electric bill. My past has been an Nvidia 9600GT and now an Nvidia GTS 450. I'm ready to build a new system and I'm looking for a GPU that's the equivalent upgrade. I've been following the 7790 so I guess the R7 260X is the evolution of that chip. Is Nvidia likely to release a 750 of some sort in the next month? Regarding the 260X, I was under the impression on the 7790 that with the 128 bit interface that over 1GB of memory was not very beneficial. Has something changed to make the 2GB on the 260Xs more relevant? I was also hoping that this GPU build would be on 20nm but I guess I'll make that hop probably 3 years from now. Any and all feedback is welcome.

The "Geforce 650 Ti boost" (2GB version) is about the level of the 260x.

Its abit slower than the 260x though, but its in its ballpark.
The 660 might be closer, and a tiny bit faster than the 260x.

On the lower end units I would go with AMD over Nvidia for Mantle support. And yes, with AA enabled, modern games on high detail use more than a 1gb of memory, so 2gb is needed...though it depends on what res you are gaming.

Mantle on lowend to easier hit performance requirements for 1080p is a good argument.

Unless you can find a 660 for cheaper than a 260x, and/or dont intend to play any of the new games that use mantle, might as well just get a 260x.
