Survey doesn't show anything really, but basing mainstream price using today's prices on old parts isn't accurate for sure. A more accurate analysis would involve finding the % of cards that retailed above $300 when NEW and drawing a conclusion from that.
Personally I wouldn't buy a video card more than $120.00. "Mainstream" (AKA non-uber enthusiast) PC gamers generally buy whatever card happens to fit in the sub $130.00 range. Alot of the time it's last gen and lower priced than the latest stuff. So arguably alot of mainstream PC gamers buy their video cards not when they first come out but a while later when they are cheaper while it's the enthusiasts that buy them when they first come out (and are higher priced).
