I wonder if you need a Crossfire motherboard for even ONE of these cards to work??

I don't think you would need an Xfire mobo for one card, at least that what's I think after reading the vague details in that article.

Since you really only need two 16x slots to run two of them as long as you have 1 16x you *should* be gtg.
