I know it's not out yet and rumors are all over the place, but does anyone have any insight on whether or not ATI/AMD will be releasing a couple of variants of the new chip? I'm thinking along the lines of what Nvidia did with G80 ala 8800GTX and 8800GTS.

Thanks!

No, they're just gonna release one version, the R600, and call it X2000XTX and make everyone pay £500 for it.

Like it's always been in the past. High end seems to surface first. Then the mid range appears. There will probably be an RV600 eventually.

I don't remember the history of past launches but you say high end first then mid range later....you thinking couple of weeks/months later?

We have no idea. All there is to go on is what has been done in the past, which is usually a high-end launch part followed 1-2 months later by the mid-range and low-end.

ATI will make a cut down version just like GTS because of yield issues.

Mid-low end Nvidia products will come in January or Feb, right along with R600, jsut to steal a little thunder.
