R520 At E-3

I can wait for benchmarks now that it is running (on a game based on Doom 3 no less).

Closed door demos in May don't bode well for the "big June release day" everyone has been telling us to wait for.

Nonetheless, I am anxious to see benches of both new cards.

Ya, my thoughts as well.

Something else that occured to me is that Alan Wake isn't running smoothly on the R520. Is that because R500 is a faster GPU than R520 or is that because all the kinks aren't worked out yet? (New Game, New Drivers, Possibly because of a slower CPU?)

Alan Wake is designed for the next-generation consoles (e.g. Xbox 360 and PS3), and thus wasn't running perfectly smoothly on the R520 but performance was quite respectable.

At this point I am leaning towards R500 is a beefier GPU than R520 because of the way Anand worded the above quote.

Can't wait for the benches!

Well since that demo was designed for Xbox/PS there isn't going to run smooth on computer hardware. First there must be a certain llevel of emulation, then there is the fact that it is not optimized at all for PC hardware. I cant accurately make a guess on which will be stronger at this point, however do not base anything off of that quote; there are other factors involved.

Yes, I can't wait to see some benchmarks comparing these cards with say...2 6800U's in sli. That'll be interesting indeed.

i now wonder whether ATI might release the card next month at Computex! something doesnt seem to be right with their chip i think!
