If you are going to overclock then get a R5 1600. B350 based motherboard is enough. But get a good CPU cooler as the stock cooler is just not going to be enough for overclocking.

I thought so. Do you have any suggestions on b350 motherboard , cooler and memory.
I am worried about memory QVL.

For memory compatibility, look at your motherboard model, specifications, and QVL first for compatibility's sake.

I heard more memory on AM4 motherboards issue.

MSI B350 Tomahawak and Prime B350-Plus should be fine and affordable. Take a look at additional features (ports, slots, fan connectors...). When you decide what MB you'll buy, take a look at memory QVL and choose one you like (I would reccommend at least 2x8 GB kit certified @2666 MHz on Ryzen)

thanks for your message. I thought so. I am going to choose B350 Tomahawk, because it can support 3200MHz and have A-XMP on bios.

I'm using an A stock AB350 Pro4 with an r5 1600. My ram is 16x2 crucial DDR4 2400. THIS MB also theoretically supports 3200 as well but there are no 3200 DIMMS on the QVL. That said my 2400 is 16 GB.DS so that's not too bad.

I think the CPU/Chipset specs say they support 3200 so every motherboard probably claims it....but weather it actually works or not is another matter. Every test I've seen has it topping out at 2933 in the real world.

As to cooler, the cooler that came with my 1600 isn't cutting it. FYI 1600X doesn't come with one. I'm very stable at 3.7 GHZ but not at 3.8. I'm waiting on the Ryzen mounting bracket for my corsair liquid cooler before I try to push it any further.
