Maybe, but the point is the R300 is here NOW and the NV30 isn't. Right now the R300 OWNZ everything:D!

OMG! :Q :D

It interesting seeing the R300 graphs right off the scale on several of the images - he should have used a different set of numbers for the X-axis.

Which are the AA benches? I can't read the captions.

Where can I find a store to buy one right now?

That's what I thought. :)

They should've included some Parhelia benches too. You would need 1600x1200 just to see the images without scrolling at that point or they would've had to use log scales!

Cheers!

Sure NV30 may very well beat the 9700, but for the next ~6 months, ATI is on top. Enjoy. ;)
And if I could afford one, I WOULD enjoy! :p

OMG, I would LOVE to be able to play games at 1600x1200 or 1280x1024x32 4XAA. It just brings tears to my eyes. :) Shoot, I can't even play Max Payne at 1280x1024x32 (NO AA). :(

doesn't anyone find it odd that the websites keep posting stuff about how good the 9700 is, but doesn't anyone notice that the ti4600 is NOT UNPLAYABLE!? everyone seems to think that the GF4 is crap now when in fact it's very very good. If it were that some new game made it unplayable but the 9700 made it extremely playable then I'd care.

*sigh*

Dude, the GF4 TI4600 is a GREAT card but the R300 is freakin' AMAZING! Your talking 104FPS
at 1600x1200x32 and a very little peformance hit with AA enabled! I have a GF2 Pro so this card looks to be my next card. When the NV30 comes out, even if it does beat the R300 in performance, it doesn't mean the R300 is a bad card...it's just not the best anymore. ;)

Even if the NV30 comes out this winter......... I can see ATI making a generous price cut at the same time :)

Yeah, thinking that the R9700 will crush the NV30 is pretty n00bish...but then, so is thinking that the NV30 will crush the R9700 (especially the 0.13 version). Not to mention that the R9700 WILL be out in a few weeks, whereas, the NV30 MAY be out by Christmas.

Yeah, I saw that review yesterday.

Some of the results aren't as high as I expected (or as Anand's results would seem to indicate) but it's probably a result of early drivers and the fact that I can't read Danish so I don't know what other things were involved.

I shall eagerly await the likes of Tom and Anand to deliver the final verdict. :)

Wow ATI, what turn of events! I await NV30, however ATI is giving Nvidia a run for the ages! If Nvidia's NV30 performs about the same, ATI may be my next card.

I don't know much about NV30, but if sounds like a killer! All I can say is that it will need to smoke R300 to live up to what I'm hearing. If not then well, like I said ATI here I come!

This ATI 9700 will be my Herc GF2 Ultra (well worth the 4 bills I spent on it, plus it's going into my other system) replacement.

In the conclusion he talks mostly about drivers, how ATI has made bad drivers in the past and that they have been improving with the new catalyst drivers. About the R300 drivers he says that they were very solid and they did not notice any bugs with them. Then he talks about the nv30 a bit, mostly what we know that untill the nv30 comes out nothing can touch the r300.

I'm starting to want this card :)
