Rumours galore, but little substantial info.
From what I can tell it seems like ATi's just going to release another R200 based chip at 300/300 instead of the 275/275 the R8500 clocks in at, supposedly shortly after the GF4's appear.

Of course I wouldnt complain at all if they were to pull out an R250 soon. :)

Maybe Ati will screw-up again on their PR for the R250, and release it @350/350.....:D
Then again it might be 295/295 :(

What was I thinking, I've even had an 8500. 250/250 sheesh.

I think the R250 is supposed to the 8500 clocked at 300/300 and with 128MB of memory.

I hope ATI gets on the ball and provides some competition for the Geforce 4. From the rumoured specs being released, the R250 just isn't gonna cut it against a Geforce 4. And we know what Nvidia will do with prices on the G4 if they feel there is no competition.

Ati is always going to be nipping at the heels of Nvidia. Even if their hardware beats Nvidia with specs, they are going to have to have to produce drivers to make it all come together. They are close to acheiving good drivers with current product, but they will always be overshadowed by Nvidia due to it.

I hope not, because that would make the R250 no different then the already widely available ATi FireGL 8800, which is based on the R200 core clocked at 300/300 with 128MB of RAM.... of course software wise the driver set for the FireGL is quite different and optimized for vastly different uses, but functionally the hardware would be identical.
