How is that new? They've been constructing them _forever_. I got interested in this about five years ago, but when I tallied up all potential costs, it was way too much for my budget. The main problem was cost of CNC-machined parts and time: you had to wait a couple of months for a group run for a dome, for example. And if there were not enough interested people, the batch wouldn't go in production, and you were screwed. Don't know how things are now - CNC could have gotten a bit cheaper.

Considering that it doesn't have the same capabilities nor the personality and self thinking abilities,... well it is a looooooooong ways from r2-d2 "living".

I would think that a c3p0 would be next after r2dr anyways,...
