R.I.P. To my kitty, Boomer. 1994-April, 2012

My 18 year oldish cat died tonight. We've known for a few months that his time was coming. I wasn't able to be there, because I live an hour away. But I got to say goodbye to him over spring break. He died peacefully, and without pain, so we were lucky. I suppose his kidneys weren't functioning and he got dehydrated. That happened in 07, too, but we were able to re-hydrate him. I'm so glad we did, he had another healthy 4 years.

He was always seen as "my cat". He slept with me almost every night when I still lived at home. We got him when I was five, and even though I was sometimes too rough with him as a child, he was unwavering in his companionship. He was a life-saver throughout my teenage years, when I was extremely angsty and sometimes depressed. And of course, every time I returned home to visit, it was like I'd never left. He was probably the best cat I'll ever have. Love him a lot.

Sorry for your loss...I know what it's like to have that kind of connection with your cat. For me, Fuzzball has always been more than just a pet or cat.

My cat has been my friend and companion for the past 13 years. I don't know what I'll do when she dies.

You have my sympathies, Lummex.

I am sorry for your loss. Cookie is not just my cat, she is my best friend and I couldn't imagine being without her.

Sorry for your loss...
Physical life is always in some form of transition.
It never ends, but changes do happen.
Close your eyes and treasure your kitty with all your vivid happy memories...
Everything you can remember... Try to remember every little detail at once, hairs, whiskers, sounds, smells, touch, the eyes, the nose...

I'm not really a cat person, but it doesn't matter what type of companion you have when it last 18 years old. Sorry for your loss.

RIP Boomer 🙁

I really feel for you...This would be the exact same post I would make if my cat Felix passed on. 22 years and still kicking.

Sorry for the loss 🙁

Be thankful that he went peacefully, my only wish for my sick cat is that she gets the opportunity to die in her sleep. I've spent thousands in vet/medication bills over the last 3-4 years to keep her relatively healthy and I will keep doing so until she goes peacefully or the vet says I'm being unjust and causing her to suffer.

This. While I prefer dogs over cats (and this is not the thread to get into that), a companion is a companion and it is always incredibly difficult when a pet like that gets taken away, especially after that long of a time.

Rest in peace, Boomer. Very sorry for your loss, Lummex.

Sorry to hear man,

My cat is getting up there in age too and is noticeably more sluggish than used to be. Its gonna be so sad to lose her and I will never be prepared for it. I just hope she goes peacefully and without pain.

So sorry for your loss, Lummex. 🙁

My cats will be turning 16 next week, and the health issues are becoming apparent. I'm trying to mentally prepare myself, but it's tough. 🙁
