R.I.P. P5N-E SLI

Sorrow, sorrow, sorrow.

I killed my P5N-E SLI. I wound up corrupting to BIOS somehow and no matter what I have tried to get it to revive, I have to declare it DECEASED, GONE TO MEET ITS MAKER, PUSHING UP THE DAISY's.....

The BIOS recovery worked a couple of times bu then I got the dreaded BIOS screen with no information on it. Cleared CMOS, no-go. Removed the battery - no go. Unpluged the PSU and cleard CMOS and removed the battery for over 8 hours, still a no go.

Not even a beep, buzz, groan, or yipee!

She was one of the best that I've ever had. Loved it so much that I immediately went out and bought another one while this one is off to RMA haven.

Be for-warned. Trying to hit 3.5 on a P5N-E SLI with a E6400 is a bit out of reach. Got it to POST and Windows started up then it froze. Hit the reset and the BIOS was gone. Not even the backup BIOS would load.

Call Asus and ask them for a new BIOS chip. It's worth a try, assuming the rest of the board didn't get zorched.

I read over at another forum that it is possible to short a couple of pins on the BIOS chip and force a checksum error that will result in an automatic "boot block" BIOS reboot.

Has anyone ever heard of this?
