Well, it finally died. The machine the Celeron 300a was installed in was acting a bit flakey a week or so ago but a reboot got it going again. Today it was totally dead. It might just be the Asus motherboard but either way I'm reluctant to put and $ into it with so many other processors and boards so cheaply available.
Goodbye old friend, you have served me well.

My original overclock (300A @ 450 in a BH6) is still running in a coworkers system. Gotta love that old combo. Sorry to hear one of these great chips is no longer running. :(

Almost the same here. The Cely300a was the first CPU I used to build my own PC. It ran at 450mhz for years until the BH6 died, then I upgraded to a Celly466 then a Duron 650@850. The Cely300A is now at my mom's house, once again running at 450mhz. :D

sad to hear one of the great Intel OCers has bit the dust.... :(

I guess I'll check it out further and see for sure which one died, the motherboard or the processor and go from there. I haven't checked but surely there are still some motherboards around to support it at a decent price.

I believe I have a 300a/450 packed away. If it is the chip then I could ship it to you next week. LMK!
