Is this speed step turned on by default?
I would be buying a QX9650 and a maximus formula board...

also is it good to have speed step on or is it better performing without it?

Unless you are going for a seriously high overclock, 4.4+ ghz or 480+ fsb I wouldn't worry about Speedstep.

I have enabled running 465x9.

this OC on air? generally QX9650 OC's good... do U have speed step on?
what would be a good stable OC for me? I mainly play games, do video editing and photo shop work on massive scales and also an avid Java programmer... though the last does not require much CPU power....
