Hey guys,

Been reading AnandTech on and off since the site started... but I've been "out of the game" with computers for probably 6-7 years and only dabble occasionally when required.

In any event... I think I slipped up when upgrading my home PC. I've been running the AW9D-MAX for years and it's been GREAT along with my E4300 over-clocked to 3000 Mhz. So I figured I'd keep the board and just get a faster chip for it.

Found a QX9650 on e-bay and won the auction. In any event... I got it home, installed, and no POST.

Initial Google searches indicate I may be SOL due to the FSB speed. I really should have checked earlier but it slipped my mind as I've been out of tune for so long!

Can anyone confirm or deny that the QX9650 is not compatible ?

Thanks!

You could probably get a supported motherboard pretty cheap. I think that CPU would be alright for an HTPC.

I upgraded from a Core 2 Duo and noticed a big improvement in video encoding speeds (especially after overclocking the thing.)
