QX6700 at NewEgg and TigerDirect

Saw the Core 2 Extreme Quad Core QX6700 appear on the NewEgg site this afternoon for $1499. :Q The OEM version - no heatsink and fan - showed up at TigerDirect for $1099.

 - There available!

 - To the price!

Once they break under a grand I'm all over it (retail ones that is)

If I had $700 to spend on hardware I could build a whole new system (mobo, mem, cpu)

Why in gods name would I want to spend more on the CPU than the rest of my system pretty much combined (minus the video)?

Because you can?

Don't knock us who can afford it 😉

4xF@H... saves space around here. Check my stats, and you will see why I would like the room. 12 boxes, all dual-cores still takes space. 6 boxes would be much nicer.

And 2x6600 ~600, its worth the extra to save the space.

You sound just like the kids who buy the newest pairs of Nike shoes with some player's name stamped on them because they think they're cool.

Don't give me that "because i can" garbage. I never said I can't...I said I won't.

I think it's expensive for that purpose, but save some space is good.

Oh come on now, you think you can really fool us? When quadcore becomes more mainstream you're still going to have 12 boxes, only you'll have all the more processing power 😉

I agree. And just because you have the money doesn't make much sense to me, either. I mean, using that thought process, Bill Gates would only drive Duesenberg's and Bugatti's, wouldn't he?

Really luxurious CPU!
Cost more than my whole system with lowly E6300.
Gotta pay premium for the greatest and latest... 🙂

hot very hot, but I think you guys may wanna wait to Q3/2007 to check out AMDs native quad. Could be better and probably cost the same.

LOL, wait almost a year for something that "could" be better and will "probably" cost the same? In the words of Borat, makes a lot of sense to me... NOT!

He's not spending your cash, so why do you even care?

It is an expensive CPU. I ordered one from TigerDirect, one year warranty, got it today. Putting it in the EVGA 680i board.

Curious, what's your monthly electric bill like?

Jesus Christ, STFU. You come into all the quad core threads saying there is no need for it, or why would anyone pay for one. Just because the most stressful thing you do with your machine is play games, doesn't mean other people can't ulitize more than one or two processor for the programs they run. Give it a rest.

How about you STFU...I'm not the only one who says it's useless and especially so since it's $700+ now and then 6months later it's going to be what $400? And then you'll probably rush out to buy the next $1k CPU too.

I think you should just face the facts...it's too expensive for what you get. That's all.
