Yesterday in the mail I got a thing from Qwest (your favorite phone company and mine ;) ) saying I'm now a Qwest preferred member. From the little membership card that comes with it:

"We're glad to have you as a Qwest Preferred memeber and are here to personally help you. Please keep this card and use it to call the Qwest Preferred number if you need any assistance." and then it has an 800 number on it.

Considering that I've nearly taken Qwest to court on a couple of occassions (threaten legal action...good way to get your service quicker), I'm suprised by this. I don't have DSL through them (I live in Central Oregon, and the DSL here sucks a$$), but I do have two phone lines. Did anybody else get this and know anything about it? I tried calling the 800 number on it when I first got it, but I couldn't hear the recording on the other end (it was too quiet).

I got it too. I put it in the shredder. I have a single residential line with no features and no long distance. In other words, I couldn't possibly give them less money per month and still have a phone line.

I have had a phone line in my name for over five years, and though I haven't always been a great on-time payer, I've never had my service cut off, and I haven't paid late any time recently. I don't think their preferred customer criteria is particularly exclusive.
