Want to know the fatal flaw PentiumGuy?

If you get really proficient on DVORAK, then you will have a hard time on QWERTY.. Guess what.. QWERTY is everywhere.

That's not what I heard. That's like saying learning to speak spanish will make you have a hard time with english

No. Everybody else uses the qwerty, so if I mastered dvorak I'd then be really slow on qwerty.

Typing is a muscle-memory process - speaking words is, but knowing a language isn't. Your body can't handle muscle memory processes very well - at least when it refers to teh same task.,

No thanks. 99.9% of computers use qwerty, makes it easy to just use what everyone uses.

Yeah, I bet i'm going to retrain myself to type. I type very fast, and while I do have a qwerty keyboard, my typing is very non-standard. I use 4 or 5 fingers to type.

this is great for physical security, because you no longer have to put fancy locks on your server room doors...

as a matter of fact, you don't even need to lock your server room because hackers won't know how to type on it :p

Hah, I have Dvorak keyboards on all of my boxes at home, and on my PC at work.
People just DON'T mess with my boxes at all.

I've been on Dvorak for probably about 2 years, and I've grown very used to it.
I can still type on a qwerty if I HAVE to, though not nearly as fast as an a Dvorak.

Also, one thing I noticed, was that back when I used a qwerty keyboard, if I drank 20 servings of liquor, I was unable to type anything that made any sense. With a Dvorak keyboard, I can form complete sentences with only one or two typo's per sentence, and that's AFTER 20 servings of liquor. I dunno, but the Dvorak layout feels much more natural to me. It's also nice that my hands don't really have to move around at all.

welcome to yesterday? That's not even appropriate enough of an insult.

Some say Dvorak isn't any faster....

"A U.S. General Services Administration study of 1953 appears to have been more objective. It found that it really didn't matter what keyboard you used. Good typists type fast, bad typists don't."

you can easily switch between dvorak and querty in windows, so you do not really have to worry about not knowing querty well. how often do you type on other computers anyway? I decided to learn but did not go through with it, my brother did though and he really likes it.
