Was wondering since I might be purchasing a Motorola A630, but what would seal the deal is if you could communicate through the flip-up qwerty keyboard through the bluetooth connetion and type things say on your pc or pda. Anybody familiar with something like this or know of any qwert cellular devices that can do this?

Okay wait, so the Treo 650 can use bluetooth to type to other devices using its qwerty keyboard? How about the 600? The Nokia 6820 also? The SK2 can't though because it doesn't have bluetooth.

That is correct NutBucket. Did you guys just htink I meant a qwerty cell that has bluetooth? No, no, it's not that simple of an endeavor otherwise I'd already know whgich phone to get by searching the various sites :). It needs to be able to use that keyboard to type to other devices that it can link through bt with.

tami: I'm kind of hoping for a cheaper setup than that which is why a nokia or that motorolla I mentioned in OP is more of an option. I plan to bluetooth to my pda and type notes and view webpages on its larger screen when necessary.

The 650 is nice, yes, I can't argue against that, but I plan to get the Tapwave Zodiac as my pda for gaming and business and it would be nice to only haveto carry a phone and the pda when it's necessary to type things and not also a wireless keyboard.

Nokia 6230 to Axim X30 bluetooth works as a file browser and a modem...

Although this is nice, almost all bluetooth profiles can do this...what I want to do is type through a qwerty keyboard on a bluetooth capable cell to that dell x30 :)

GSM = cingular, t-mobile
CDMA = sprint

i'm not sure what else to suggest. i happen to not mind the small treo keyboard that's already included. it takes awhile (like 15 minutes) to get used to it, but it's not so bad. but yes, it's an expense. however, if you look at how amazing the screen is and get a SD card and take advantage of all of those benefits, it's a great investment.

then again, i'm not really familiar with other bluetooth compatible phones...

Okay no offense to anybody here, but I think everybody here has missed the entire point of me starting this thread (although I do appreciate the responses). The only reason I'm looking at a cell with a qwerty keyboard is with the hopes that it can be used to type to other devices OTHER than the cell phone itself. I see alot of suggestions, but upon searching these models at phonescoop.com, gsmarena.com, or googling reviews, they make no note of the keyboard being able to be used in the manner I'm suggesting. Can comebody (preferrable who owns a phone and can verify my claim) please provide some form of definitive answer to the topic at hand? Thanks a bunch.

i am so lost

just found this out:

Samsung's second EDGE phone will be the SGH-P207, a surprisingly small and light clamshell model with unique ebony-and-chrome styling. It's full-featured enough, with a VGA camera and dual TFT color displays, but this phone's claim to fame is its world-first speech dictation feature.

Using technology from VoiceSignal, the P207 lets you "write" text messages by simply speaking the words into the microphone. The phone performs real-time full speech recognition to convert your speech into text, something that previously required more processing power than was available in most phones.

Samsung has an arrangement with VoiceSignal that gives them an exclusive worldwide license to this technology until the end of 2005.
