I think topic says it all. How do I quote quotes in this new forum? The old one was putting everything from the old message (and I could select what I wanted to leave), the new one only quotes what the creator of the quoted post wrote. It kinda kills the thought flow. Hopefully I won't have to manually insert the extra quotes...

I think I can understand wanting to remove the nested quote chains, but how about a reasonable middleground? Maybe three quotes within quotes as a maximum?

I think that's the only option at the moment.

As an experiment, I clicked on the "Multi-Quote This Message" button to the right of the 'Quote' button before hitting the Quote button and typing this reply. We'll see what happens.

Edit: So the Qbah quote was lost. So, what is the function of that button?

hm... multiquote didn't work....

Oh.... I see how it works. You select the posts you want to quote with Multiquote and it lists them like this. I guess it won't make nested quotes.

Oh, I see. (I practiced and previewed to check it out) Good detective work. If we had a beer emoticon, I'd give you one for your effort!

just testing this feature

Well, I guess this is an ok workaround. Just multiquote your old self (or the person in "line"), the person's reply and write an answer. Remove what's unnecessary. Not perfect, but will have to do. Thanks guys !

All you have to do is press multi-quote on one post and then quote the last one you plan to quote. A very useful features instead of having to copy+paste quotes.

But yes, I don't like overlapping quotes either...especially for some reason if someone quoted a huge post, someone responds to it with a lengthy one, and so on...

Lack of nested quotes really reduces readability imho. In a large thread you often don't get enough context to know what people are talking about, and going through pages upon pages of posts is really annoying. Most people aren't gonna bother with this multi-quote trick out of consideration for readers.

I know multi-quote can be abused but come on it wasn't that bad was it?
