So I got a PM about quote trimming from a mod. Is this standard now? This was the size of the original post if you were wondering.:

 x infinity

Are you saying the illegals are a necessary evil?

illegals? no.

a worker program is needed. The goverment should work in it but they don't.

but i do think they should kick out the illegals.

We have one. Its called legal immigration and there are several visas available to do so :)

I don't see anything wrong with a "guest worker" program for agricultural workers.

Retain half of their pay until they return to their native country. Something similar to this was tried many years ago, but either they never went home, or the Mexican banks/government claimed they never got the money.
If set up and administered correctly, this could help the farmers who cry for their cheap labor while slowing illegal immigration.

IMO, it should be accompanied by immediate expulsion of ALL illegal immigrants...regardless of the country of origin, regardless of whether they've married US citizens, regardless of any "anchor babies" they've had.

Round them up...send them back. Let them get in line like everyone else.

So you want more American jobs outsourced to a 3rd world country? Keep American jobs in America for Americans and legal immigrants.

A quote within a quote is fine, but once you go beyond that, it's fair for a mod to ask you to trim the nesting down.

That's my take on it.

Do the first 3 inside quotes add any value to your post?

If not, then removing them makes it easier on the eyes.

It does have that option.

Ya, it does. I'm just hoping they use it. ;)
Until then, a little common sense by posters that use the quote button would be a great assistance to the community

You are severely underestimating the laziness of the average poster not to mention overestimating the levels of common sense.

The quote was quite short compared to some others in the same thread and even the same page. I hope the mod took his or her time to PM each and every one of the offenders. If not, why the hell would he single me out.

I guess if the mod really doesn't like super long quote strings, I could pm him a reminder whenever I see him quoting a long string himself! I've seen numerous mods quote long strings so obviously it isn't a TOS/forum guidelines infraction. It just doesn't seem right to pm me about a post that is fairly tame in P&N terms of quoting(the words weren't even warped) when there are strings that are around 50% longer.

I think nested quoting rules should be put in place and enforced with an iron fist. Stop wasting so much damn space, keep nested quotes only when they add value to your post.

Unless of course, the previous posts add something to yours.

Is the auto-parse an admin-only on/off in Vbulletin, or will each user have to turn it on individually?

Don't be such a baby, is it really that hard to trim your quotes? I've been warned by a mod on this myself; not a big deal.

He's paranoid since he's guilty of something and mods can smell it. It might be something else completely but there's guilt there.

Trim your quotes, it's simple. The mods just want people to keep everything looking nice and readable here. Is it really that hard for you to highlight and delete?

Seems easy and logical. The only downside is that some haven't figured out how to use the preview button to check their work. Quotes will invariably be mangled.

He wasn't singling you out, he's PM'd me plenty of times asking for me to trim my quotes as well. Get off your period.

Yup, me too. I usually just yell "Fuck you!" at my monitor, then go and trim the quote.

It's therapeutic.

It seriously takes 5 seconds at most...

And that is if you have ham for hands.

Does ADMITTING that you told a mod to fuck off constitute a mod callout?:laugh::laugh::laugh:
