Quote button usage with Poll

Why do so many people use the quote button without deleting all the other excessive quotes before? It's annoying to have page after page of quote within quote within quote. Is it really difficult to take 10 seconds to highlight and delete all of the unneccessary quotes and only keep the quote that you are repling to?

I always remove the text in a quote and write:
SNIPPED
Unless removing the quoted text takes away from understand the entire point.

It is annoying as sh!t when people quote nine posts, just to add one word, or LOL at the bottom!
🙂

sometimes, when I try and delete other quotes of quotes before replying to the one I want to , the formatting gets messed up; I see this in many other quotes of quotes and such.

this isn't usenet, don't sweat it

No worries about top or bottom posting here on ATOT, but the lack of snipping from replies is still a problem on Usenet. But reading long posts are not as annoying on Usenet. Since the reply is either on top or the bottom, it's easy enough to navigate around. But unfortunately here, the mouse wheel gets a workout to scroll around the endless quote within a quote within a quote posts.

I'm surprised that almost 50% of posters say they remove the excessive quotes. It doesn't feel like that many people actually do when browsing most topics. It's even more amazing that only a third of us find the quote within a quote annoying. This rates up on the annoyance scale as repost nazis and thread parodies.

GET RID OF THIS GADDAMN QUOTE BUTTON ALREADY! :|

Too, too many lazy idiots on this board to leave it in place. Anybody with half a brain, who actually needs to quote someone, will manage just fine without it...
