Quock need MS Word help

I think it might be Word 2k7. My problem is that I need to know how to number pages. I need to need to page three on MS Word number page one because I need to create a table of contents (basically I want to control what page I want number one)

I tried the header and footer and it doesn't work. How can I do this?

Assuming I understood your question:

1. Click the Insert tab.
2. Click the "Page Number" button, then click Bottom of Page > Plain Number 2. (This inserts the default page number beginning from 1.)
3. Click "Page Number" again, then select "Format Page Numbers...".
4. In the window that pops up, you can specify any number under "Start at:". For example, if you specify "3", Word will start numbering your pages 3, 4, 5 and so on.

no I've tried that and it doesn't work.

I need to start numbering from page 3, not have 3 on the thrid page and not the other 2

in other words the third page on MS word has to be page #1 because I want first page in MS word to be the title page and the second page on the MS word to be the table of contents. I need the third page to be called page #1

Don't stress, just print them separately. Problem solved.

You need to insert a section break on Page 3. Then you can insert a page number on that same page and tell Word to begin numbering from that section onwards, starting at 1.
