it's about reputation...
your business loses face..? then society starts looking at the other things
as long as they remain competitive with quality, the taste of the sandwiches will fall into place and people will still buy from them.
quiznos, my african american buddy, she was an awesome worker, one of the reasons why some people went to the specific store she worked at. I mean, she could be the general manager any day and still deliver the best customer service. management team hated her because she was colored, told her to hit the road. after she left, no more customers.
they asked her back for help, but didn't hire her. I was like... why'd she help them if they didn't hire her? out of her kind heart, one store still standing because of that.
for that reason quiznos sucks in my eyes. their pricing is terrible compared to subway.
edit: did she go back, hell no

I don't think their goal was to REPLACE Subway, but to fill a (large) Niche by upgrading the quality and taste of Subway and hoping that a large percentage of Subway's customers use Quizno's as another CHOICE. They are providing an 'upscale' sub experience. That is why you don't usually find Quizno's in ghettos or gas stations like you do subway.
The 'sales' marketing is something that just about every business does. I don't think that tactic is as bad as places who 'Feature' certain items but do not discount them. This lures some stupid people into believing it is 'on sale' then they realize a month later when it isn't featured, that it is still the same price (or even LOWER priced). This tactic works but I find it BS.

Subway is great.
Footlong Turkey breast with bacon
lettuce, tomato, blaack olives, mayo, and southwest sauce on Itallian herbs and cheese FTW
I don't see why anyone would pay that much for Quizno's if they have a Jersey Mike's or Lenny's nearby.

Add ham, subtract tomato and that's the exact same thing I get everytime I go there. On whole wheat, not toasted. I love their SW/chipotle sauce...always ask for extra. Man, now I'm craving Subway as opposed to the crappy frozen dinner I brought for lunch today.

I had never heard of Lenny's before but noticed one opened up over by my girlfriend's house. We figured we'd give it a try for lunch one day and I have to admit, that was probably the best sub I've ever had. If I had one closer to my part of town, I'd never eat at Subway again. Awesome bread, meats and cheeses. Super fresh and not too pricey.

I love that chipotle southwest sauce.. I wish I could get my hands on a large container of that $hit!
Try some of that on one of their breakfast sandwhiches... egg, bacon, green peppers, onions and southwest sauce.. .yum yumm

Folks, Quizno's is more expensive because they have more meat on their sandwiches. You can get the same at Subway by paying $2 more for extra meat.
I guarantee their profit margin is virtually the same as Subway's.
I don't know what sandwiches you're getting at both places, but I think just the opposite is true.
I always get a BMT at Subway and it has a TON more meat on it than the couple sandwiches I've tried at Quiznos.
