What - not even a proper URL? (it says welcome to quickstart, com, which doesnt exist)

At a guess it looks fishy to me, professionally done, but suspect

Quickstart is a pyramid scheme. it's legit, but it's one of those things where you have to have ppl sign up under you in order to make any money. and the more ppl you sign up under you the more money you get. you also have to sell something usually. maybe vitamins, water filters of the sort. its just like amway, equinox, and all the other get rich quick schemes. i wouldnt join it and i would tell your friend to get their money back because it's a huge get rich quick scheme, and barely works unless you know a lot of ppl with money. usually you can make the most money when this is first created, but by now there are thousands if not hundred thousands of ppl already in this company trying to recruit people under them. trust me, i know how this works, i fell for this crap years ago. no longer will i ever fall for it, and i hope i can stop you guys from falling for it too.

id recommend staying away from them. they kept harrassing a friend of mine and me at Best Buy(South Bend, IN) until finally we gave in to see what they are all about. they just sell you webspace to start your own web company (which sells retail clothing and crap). its a joke. Stay Away IMHO>

Its not Quickstart. This Quixtar thing is different. It has nothing to do with web space or websites. Its about buying products though there site and saving money based on % rates and points.

If anyone has heard about it or is in it please post your comments and info. Thanx

I am talking about Quixtar. They used to come in to BB and hand out business cards. They even had a cdrom business card. Maybe I explained it differently then it was explained to you, but its the same company.

It is sort of a web scam- another big-time multi-level marketing scheme process.

I also suggest you avoid them

yes it is. some guy was trying to recuit me in compusa. at the time, i had no idea what it was. i went to the seminar with him, and i felt like everything was rush-rush. it was like they did not want me time to do some research and hear what anyone else had to say about the company. so eventually, i dug up some nitty gritty stuff and did not want to join. i went to my recruits house to give him back some stuff and tell him i didn't want to join and the dude was like flipping out. basically...his response to me not wanting to join was that i was dumb. i'm like...ok dude...

Quixtar is Amway's foray into online shopping.

A family member (not my immediate family...whew!) is in that stuff.

<sigh>

My uncle is in it. He's big into amway nobody likes him - he's just money driven. He used my grandparents' funerals to get more people in "the business"
Anyway, yeah quixtar works, but you have to show people quixtar like you had to show people the amway "plan." It's gay. stay away from it.

it's very cult like...

and one more thing... when i went to the seminar... they were presenting how big they were and stuff. did anyone else go? they claimed they were bigger than amazon.com and how they were business partners with ibm, sun, microsoft, cisco, etc. what a joke. just becuz ppl in quixtar might sell ibm, ms, etc stuff...that does not make u partners. its all a play with words in quixtar...

I passed on it.

Someone tried to recruit me . . . I just didn't want to put all my time and energy out to make money for him.

I am sure it works for some people. But - generally - to make something like this work you have to believe in it (really believe).
'
In looking through a dozen Quixtar catalogues, I didn't find any hotter deals than I regularly find in the Hot Deals forum.

(Not for me. No thank-you! Not interested! I'm busy. Go Away!) :)

Do a search on google or on deja for these guys. There are 100% a scam and I actually got into a verbal fight with about 10 arabs that tried to recuit a bunch of my friends. Stay very far away.

Quixtar = Amway. I worked at a hotel that booked a lot of Amway conventions about 3 and a half years ago, which is when Quixtar actually debuted. I remember hearing one Amway person say that Quixtar was going to surpass "all web-based retailers within one month of its debut". Naturally, this did not happen. Avoid Quixtar like the plague.

Here's a news story from ZDNN from 1999:

Couple goes online for Amway

July 5, 1999 8:09 AM PT

For the past couple of years, John Weatherly and his wife have been playing around with being Amway distributors, but they haven't been "really putting the effort into it that it requires."

Now, that may be about to change. Weatherly, 65, and his wife on Sept. 1 will transfer into agents for Quixtar, a new enterprise on the Internet that, in Microsoft terms, embraces and extends Amway's much-mimicked method of "multilevel marketing" of soap, cosmetics and other everyday products and services aimed at consumers.

---------

Also, some more info from The Skeptics Dictionary.

hmm... well thanks for the information. I guess I will try to learn what I can. One thing though, you all say Amway is very bad but I talked to a few people around my town who know people in it and such and said that Amway isnt a big scam. Its a good way for companys to buy cleaning stuff and such. Is this accurate? What should I think?

amway at one point did have 'decent' soap. Thats how it got started. But thereis NOTHING that amway sells now that you couldn't find elsewhere that is usually better and cheaper.

Don't waste your time. Amway only works if you put 110% of your effort in it, and when you do that, you will loose all your friends.

What Ive heard about Quixtar is different. From what I hear you get the price discounts and you dont have to work at it. As long as people get in after you (time based) then they are under you. The thing is, at least what I hear, is that the only way to make money is to work at it. But that comes later and if your an internet shopper then you still get the discounts. Also how can it be bad if companies like Walmart, and Bass Pro Shops are involved. Im not saying I agree, just a little devils advocate here. Again thanks for all the info and all the great replies.
