This guy at my work just quit smoking after smoking for 29 years last Monday. Normally at work he'll smoke 2-3 packs. Didn't have a single one (I kept CLOSE tabs). He said that he did it cold turkey. I believe him. Although his friend just had half a lung taken out, that I guess is SOME motivation, but how come everybody says that you can't do it cold turkey? Is it just that they have pathetic, weak minds?

Wouldn't this guy be one of the most addicted on the planet, after smoking for 29 years?

Wouldn't he be less mad if he didn't calculate his total life expenditures on cigarettes to be just shy of $100,000?

All these questions, but no answers...yet. Let's have some answers! Go at it, AT!

Peace,

$3K a year for 29 years, invested at 8% interest...

People are smoking away their retirements.

HAHAHA!!! And this is over 29 years. Remember that when he started, cartons were like $7.

I started smoking at 15 and quit cold-turkey at age 20. Like a fool I started again at age 24. I'm now 31 and my quit date is set for 31st of this month. I'll be doing it cold-turkey again. Although I think it's going to be harder now because I tried quitting about two months ago and failed after the first twelve hours.

The hardest thing about quitting smoking is the fact that everyone else says its hard to quit. If you dont have the mindset that its going to be hard, its not.

Used to be a pack a day, and I stopped cold turkey one day. Couldnt care less, and Ive got cash flowing out my pockets.

I think you make a good point here. With me it's not so much everybody else telling me it's hard, but I think I'm telling myself it's going to be hard. Perhaps I should work on my state of mind before Friday!

The fact that youre telling yourself its hard has a lot to do with everyone else telling you its hard.

The simple and easy 1 step program to qutting smoking:

STOP IT! DONT DO IT! DONT MAKE EXCUSES! YOU DONT NEED IT! IF EVERYONE ELSE CAN SURVIVE WITHOUT SMOKING, SO CAN YOU! ANYONE WHO SAYS ITS TOO HARD IS JUST SAYING SO BECAUSE THEY FAILED, AND HAVE TO FIND SOMETHING TO BLAME OTHER THAN THEMSELVES!

STOP IT!

:D

Former pack a day smoker, cold turkey quitter...and psych major. Muhahaha!
