I haven't smoked a cigarette in almost 21 years. You just have to put your mind to it.

I got a couple friend's who've done it. Sucking on candies helped them, peppermints, cinnamon disks, starburts, etc.

That was my first thought as well, and sure enough...

and tobacco really isnt bad for you..as long as you have a strong enough. little brain to realize that you will get addicted if you smoke too much of it.

This last Saturday was my 114th day without a cigarette. I simply quit cold turkey. The first few days weren't so bad, but the next 10 days were pretty awful. I had all sorts of cravings, and crazy mood swings...I found myself getting angry and frustrated all the time. However, after the second week, things got much, much easier. I don't have any cravings at all any more. In fact, the thought of smoking a cigarette now makes me want to puke!

By all means try to quit. I had to try several times before it finally stuck, but now I am very glad that I no longer have that nasty monkey on my back.

By the way, I smoked a pack a day for about 7 years...

If you WANT to do it, you CAN do it.
Easy as that.

I've smoked for 3 years and have tried to quit at least 10 times. I know 3 years isnt much but I smoked like a pack a day and was really addicted.
Ive always wanted to quit for the wrong reasons though, parents, friends, girlfriend, etc.

If you really want to do it, its easy. Just stop, cold turkey.
Honestly the first one or two days are messed up lotsa cravings youre moody etc... try having some regular gum every time you have a craving or hang out with ppl who dont smoke. dont carry a pack around (duh) and try to stay indoors or somewhere where u wont be able to smoke even if u wanted to.

after the first couple days it gets easier and easier by the day... the first week is nice... after the second week (im at 16 days) you dont even really want any. ive gone out drinking and not wanted any. they say after 3 weeks most of the junk is out of your system and your lungs start rebuilding...

aim for that... like take it 1 week at a time and serious by the second or third week you wont even want any smokes anymore...

thats just my story...

I smoked for more than 8 years. I haven't smoked in a month. Just STOP. That simple. Be a man.

Gum and sh!t can help but in the end you have to have sufficient resolve to quit.

I quit cold turkey, so di my father and grandfather. Nothing would have helped us, we're to stubborn.

Tried the patch twice, and Wellbutrin once, but ended up caving in and starting again. Ive cut down too a few per day, and hoping to quit totally sometime this month. Im procrastinating.

With my relatives, they've only actually been able to quit when THEY wanted to quit. Not when their family members, daughters, sons, fathers, mothers wanted them to quit. It has to be YOUR decision to quit, and YOU have to want to do it. You have to want to do it for yourself and no one else or you will fail. That's the way it's been for 3 of my uncles who have quit smoking and 2 of my cousins.

i've seen all sorts of people quit, with the help of patches and gum. finding somethign to keep your mouth busy is critical.

Don't let the tempt for a cig get you. Make sure any you have are thrown away/given to someone else so you don't have access to them. Oh, and have a  for quitting!
