Breaking your smoking habit is not "easy", so you should prepare yourself for this by understanding in advance that there is some anxiety and 'rough' spots you'll have to get through. But a little anxiety and rough spots aren't anything to be afraid of and they're not insurmountable. Nothing worth while is ever easy.

You have to be motivated and if you believe that you can't quit, well then you can't, and you might as well not be wasting your time. "Can't" has to be eliminated from your mindset.

Get ready for the part when you start bargaining with yourself. Funny and sad at the same time

I agree, quitting cold-turkey didn't work for me. :(

I quit cold turkey a while back, it was hard but the only way I can quit stuff.
It will get easier every day.

Congrats and hang in there.
Also, maybe a daily report so we can cheer you on.

Cliff knows that if he breaks out a cigarette, I'm going to beak the living F*CK outta him! Just a little justification for the weak minded...

I am his personal trainer and have to keep his ass in shape for spring break.

No cigarettes= get in better shape = get more punanny.

I don't know if this would help. But I'd think of the Reynolds Great great grandkids all driving around in Bentleys and living in sprawling estates never working a day in thier life while you work to support thier lifestyle buying thier product which may kill you ugly like.

Dude, I'm right there with you.

I've been gradually cutting down SOO much. Have been doing a "dip" of sorts VERY rarely just to get over those cravings. And I can't get addicted to that stuff, I hate it.

But yeah, I've been coughing up pleghmy stuff. (Is that normal?)

But, hey, we can be little support buddies :D (Even though I earlier accused you of being the e-bay virgin) :p

Good luck. It's hard, very hard. But it can be done. After many attempts I finally quite cold turkey. It's been 2/12 years now. I'm glad I quit, but I still miss those suckers. And somethimes you just got to make really hard decisions to stay smoke free. I haven't been to a bar in 2/12 years. No way I could drink and be in a smoke environment. No way.

It's tough. You have to really WANT it.

But it's possible. I know, I was a two+ pack a day smoker for 15+ years until I quit three years ago.

No bargins. Simply take your first month one day at a time.

I averaged 1.5 packs a day for 10 years, then quit cold 6 years ago. It does get easier with time, but the first couple of months is the toughest.

after a while you'll notice how much you can detect the smoker that walks buy in blockbuster video or the grocery store and smell the stale smoke on their clothes....

BTW, no matter how long you've quit, there is NEVER such a thing as a safe "just one cigarette."

You can't make bargins with yourself. It never works. You can't innocently cheat for "special occations." You either quit, or you don't.
