who's done it without regret. I've started to dislike my job more and more. I've been meaning to look for another job but with a steady job and job security, I have little motivation to search. I'm hoping if I quit my job I might have more motivation to look or go back for my masters degree.

If I go back to school can I get unemployment? I'm single so I don't have anyone who depends on me.

Find a job first. I was on the shelf for almost 1.5 yrs after quitting my job and hoping to find a new one after 3 months of taking it easy.

On the plus side, I used the time off to finish up my Bachelor's degree.

Unemployment is if you get fired without due cause or you are layed off.

Look for a job now, even if its only a temp job.

What is your education, Exp., and location? Also what do you do now and for whom?

You can always donate plasma and do temp work until you get a new job.

Also, you'd be shocked and amazed at how far you can stretch a dollar if you really have to. Assuming you don't have a mortgage payment or other recurring obligation.

i've quit a high paying job w/o another one lined up because i got fed up. but i had over a years of expenses in the bank. plus another $250k profit if i sold my house at that time.

how employable r u? Are you really that FED up to risk living on the streets incase u dont get another job in 6months?

no, the state wont pay for unemployment if u quit.

if u dont have motivation now for a MAsters, u wont have it when ur jobless and hemoraging $ on rent/food. (Master's degreess cost $$$)

I'm not saying dont do it. you need to weigh the pro/cons. and figure out your risk tolerance.

Don't get a master's just for the sake of finding a better job. Do it because you find something you can see yourself doing for the next 20-30 years.

I did it a few months ago and am not hurting, but in "financial difficulty," digging deep in my reserves. Unfortuantely I got my new job mid pay-period and had to wait quite a while before my first check.

just a fleeting thought, that I wasn't taking to seriously. I just happen to be one of those who is more motivated when my back is against the wall.
